Links to Interesting Lengai-Related Sites

Smithsonian Global Volcanism Network Reports: Includes detailed maps, activity descriptions, sketches, and photos of Lengai, and information on every other active volcano in the world.

Celia Nyamweru’s Website: This is the most comprehensive website on the history of Ol Doinyo Lengai, by an expert on the Rift Valley.

www.earth-of-fire.over-blog.com is a creation of Bernard Duyck and contains great postings about a variety of volcanic regions plus information about environmental threats to Lake Natron near Lengai.

Lake Natron Camp is an eco-camp on the south shore of Lake Natron.  Their website shows pictures of a Lengai climb made in Sep 2007 during the explosive eruption.

Patrick Koster's Pakosphotography has impressive images of Lengai and other erupting volcanoes, volcanoes of the western USA, lightening, and a number of other topics.

Richard Roscoe's Photovolcanica has a page on Lengai and excellent photos of other volcanoes, polar scenes, seabirds, and art.  A very informative site.

Stromboli-on-Line: Amazing photos and videos of the activity at Ol Doinyo Lengai and other volcanoes.

Tom Pfeiffer's website: Tom's photo gallery from the Lengai 2003 expedition must not be missed! The site also has extensive information about other volcanoes.

Jeff Brown's Volcano Images: Another collection of some of the best shots of Lengai in action.  Jeff visited Lengai with me in 2001, 2002, and 2004.

Peter Elliston's website: Includes excellent photos from the 2006 Lengai expedition.

Vulkan Expeditionen International: Chris Weber's home page. Chris arranges expeditions to Ol Doinyo Lengai and any other volcano in the world you might want to see.  The site has information and photos from his previous visits to Lengai.

Paul Hloben's Volcanoes of Africa: Includes dramatic photos from his July 2003 Lengai visit.

http://perso.club-internet.fr/acatte/Lengai_in_english.htm is a French site with some very nice photos of a small hornito being formed.

Thorsten Boeckel's website includes great photos and videos of the 2003 and 2004 Lengai expeditions.

National Geographic.com has an online supplement to the Jan 2003 Lengai article, with photos and text by Carsten Peter.

Oliver Stebler's geoimage website has Lengai photos from three different years and many other mountain photos from various parts of the world.

Do you have a Lengai-related site you would like me to list here? If so, please let me know.
